Ben Magee MEng CEng MIEI MICorr


Ben is a Chartered Civil Engineer who specialises in assessing and extending the life of existing infrastructure. He has extensive knowledge in the Cathodic Protection of reinforced concrete, marine metallic and on land metallic structures.

Ben graduated with a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast in 2016.  During his time at university he undertook work placements with GRAHAM Construction working on the maintenance of Wastewater Treatment Works in Northern Ireland, the worlds largest offshore Wind Turbine in Scotland and the Chelmer Viaduct Replacement in England.  During his time at University, Ben also worked part time with McFarland Consulting where he gained an appreciation of Concrete Non-Destructive Testing and the use of Cathodic Protection to arrest steel reinforcement corrosion in swimming pool structures.

Since joining McFarland Consulting on a full-time basis in 2016.  Ben has project managed projects from inception to completion across a range of sectors.  Ben achieved Chartered Engineer status in 2019.  He is also recognised as a Professional Member of the Institute of Corrosion, NACE Senior Corrosion Technologist and is qualified as a Level 3, Cathodic Protection Senior Technician across the Reinforced Concrete, Marine Metallic and On-Land Metallic application sectors.  Ben is an Institute of Corrosion Level 1 qualified Coating Inspector and a Society for Protective Coatings qualified Pipeline Coating Inspector.

Ben currently spends much of his time in London where he is working on expanding the reach of our specialist services.
