Senior Technician

Thomas joined McFarland Consulting Ltd in 2018 as an ICE Apprentice. Since this time, he has successfully completed his Foundation Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and progressed into the MEng Civil Engineering Degree Programme at Ulster University.

Since joining the team, Thomas has gained extensive experience in the design and application of Cathodic Protection Systems across concrete, marine, and buried application sectors.

Thomas travels across the UK on a weekly basis, utilising skills developed from previous safety critical employment as a Team Leader.  Overseeing Concrete Non-Destructive Testing works and Monitoring of Cathodic Protection Systems on behalf of Senior Engineers.

Thomas is an Institute of Corrosion (ICorr) Level 1 qualified Coating Inspector and is subsequently working towards acquiring his ICorr level 2 Cathodic Protection of On-Land Metallic Structures.  With industry training and experience in Working at Heights, Ancillary Asbestos, Confined Space Access, Electricity, Water, Rail, PASMA, NPORS, and First Aid, he has the skills and experience necessary to assist with a wide variety of high risk or technically challenging tasks.
