Murlough Wastewater Pumping Station comprises a series of concrete structures forming part of a critical wastewater collection and transfer asset. McFarland Consulting Ltd were appointed to undertake a condition assessment of the pumping station infrastructure to support asset management and future maintenance planning.
MCL carried out detailed inspections and targeted testing to assess the condition of the concrete elements and identify deterioration mechanisms affecting the structures. The scope of works was developed to address areas of known concern and to provide sufficient information to inform decision-making without unnecessary disruption to the operation of the pumping station.
The investigations included visual inspections and non-destructive testing to assess concrete condition, surface integrity and durability performance. The works were undertaken with careful consideration of access constraints and operational requirements, ensuring that site activities were delivered safely and efficiently.
The findings of the assessment provided the Client with a clear understanding of the condition of the pumping station assets and the likely causes of observed deterioration. This information supports informed planning of maintenance and intervention works, helping to safeguard the long-term performance and reliability of the pumping station.
