Following a successful alternative tender, we assessed the condition of the structure by undertaking a range of concrete tests. We then built a deteriorated state Finite Element Analysis (FEA) model of the bridge and confirmed the model’s accuracy by installing a series of fibre optic strain sensors and performing a number of dynamic load tests. We are providing ongoing structural health monitoring which is maintaining access to the historically and culturally significant castle and breakwater.
A major fire in 2018 caused extensive structural damage to Bank Buildings. A complete restoration of the Grade B1 Listed structure is currently ongoing. We have helped in the process of bringing this important structure back to its former glory by undertaking detailed measurements of the façade’s architectural features as well as material investigations of the various fire damaged structural elements.
We were engaged to undertake a series of localised Non-Destructive Tests (NDT) to the reinforced concrete slab tracks of both railway tunnels located within Glasgow city centre. Our investigative works were undertaken over two phases to help determine the location and magnitude of voids below the rails.
Structural Assessment of 2no. underground chambers to the front façade of multi storey structure in the centre of London. Inspection and Non-Destructive Testing of reinforced concrete structures, Finite Element Analysis, design and installation of fibre optic strain sensors for a Structural Health Monitoring system and load test to prove the model. Ongoing live monitoring of applied loads to the underground chambers from construction traffic during building façade replacement works with automatic loading trigger alarms in in place.
Structural assessment of intermediate reinforced concrete slab. Installation of wireless remotely accessed crack sensors which were constantly reported upon. A hybrid sacrificial anode Cathodic Protection system was installed to add protection to the reinforced concrete supports within the dome.
As part of the major development of the Royal Wharf site on the River Thames in London, we were engaged to undertake a detailed reinforced concrete condition assessment of the quay wall structure.
Receiving an award for Excellence in Building Processes from the Concrete Society, McFarland Consulting were engaged to design and supervise the remediation of Abercorn Bridge.
Inspection and testing of reinforced concrete building dock elevations. Production of a detailed condition report providing traffic light ratings to individual sections of the elevations. Design of a Cathodic Protection system for long term remediation.
In recognition of our innovative investigations and remedial design to this popular city centre car park, we received an award for Excellence in Building Processes from the Concrete Society. We undertook an extensive and detailed condition assessment of the deteriorating concrete decks which informed our bespoke rehabilitation package and supervised the works on site on behalf of the client.
We were engaged to perform a detailed inspection of the exterior façade of one of Belfast’s most recognised buildings. Following an initial survey, a period of crack monitoring was undertaken along with a topographical survey of some of the building’s components to determine their verticality.
